GRANADA CATHEDRAL
The Granada cathedral is one of the most important buildings of Spanish architecture. It lies on top of the remains of Granada’s Gran Mezquita Nazarí.
The Granada cathedral is a big building of five naves separated by classic pillars and an ambulatory.
The fine Capilla Mayor, where you can find the praying statues of the Catholic Kings, stands out for its beauty. It is also well known for its large baroque façade.
LA ALCAICERIA (THE HOUSE OF CESAR)
The area surrounding the Granada Cathedral is called the Alcaicería. It has beautiful streets full of market stalls with craftwork, spices and incenses. It reminds us its past, when it was an Arabic market. It is one of the most beautiful permanent markets in Europe.
LA CARTUJA or the monastery of Our Lady of the Assumption.
It is a monastery that housed the religious community of the Carthusian order since its establishment until 1835. Although the variety of styles, it represents one of the finest examples of Spanish baroque architecture.
